paulywollydoodle: baritonepats: MIND=BLOWN the original drawings for clefable and gengar were actually identical in their silhouettes. they were one of the original designs for pokemon and were meant to be the icons directed toward the pokemon franchise, however, pikachu seemed to be more marketable once the series came out. this is also why, at least i believe, in the intro for the first episode, they had a gengar in a battle with another pokemon.
